Building a gender balanced culture inside asset management firms better serves investors and society. A panel of senior human resources professionals will discuss initiatives to improve gender diversity, including recruiting beyond traditional networks, providing mentoring and sponsoring for women, and developing strategies to counteract unconscious hiring and promotion biases.
Josh Balik-Klein is a Managing Director of Human Resources at Morgan Stanley and Head of Investment Management Human Resources, based in New York. Josh joined Morgan Stanley in 2005 and has held a number of senior roles across Human Resources, including Head of HR for the Private Markets side of Investment Management, Head of HR for MS Private Bank, NA and Private Wealth Management, and Head of the Carried Interest team. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Josh managed an outpatient clinic at Memorial Sloan-Kettering for a renowned colorectal oncologist.
Josh earned a B.S. from Duke University and a Masters in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Josh currently resides in Rye Brook, NY with his wife and two daughters.
Alice Davison is a senior HR manager with responsibility for global Investment Group Recruiting and a vice president of the Central Services Division for The Capital Group Companies (CGC). She has previously served as a general human resources manager for CGC's east coast offices, a fund administrator and consultant for Capital Research International, and the coordinator of The Associates Program (TAP). Alice was a TAP participant before attending graduate school.
Alice Received a bachelor's degree in Economics from Bowdoin College and an MBA with distinction from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business. She is a Trustee of the Far Brook School in Short Hills, New Jersey. a volunteer at the Lawrenceville School, and involved in area admissions for Bowdoin. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Forte Group.
Jerilyn McAniff is a Managing Director in the U.S. High Yield Group at Oaktree Capital where she focuses on investments in the retail, consumer, lodging, leisure, transportation and business services sectors. She also co-leads the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Council and is actively involved in a wide range of initiatives at the firm supporting women and underrepresented groups. She currently serves as a Director of Hope Street Friends School, a daycare and preschool in Los Angeles. She also currently serves on the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Board of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, one of the two resident groups performing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. She also serves on the Finance Council, Restoration Committee and chairs the Concert Committee of St. Andrew Church in Pasadena.
Jerilyn joined Oaktree in 2008 from The Circinus Group, an advisory and executive training firm that she co-led, where she developed curricula and led M&A, valuation and corporate finance training programs for investment banks and asset management firms and co-authored The Practitioner’s Guide to Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Finance. Before that, she worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at J.P. Morgan where she focused on M&A deals in the power and energy industries. Ms. McAniff received a B.S. degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley
