Tom Montag, is COO of Bank of America, president of Global Banking and Markets, and a member of the company’s executive management team.

Tom is responsible for all of the businesses that serve companies and institutional investors, including middle-market commercial and large corporate clients, and institutional investor clients, including BofA Global Research and the global markets sales and trading businesses.


He has extensive industry knowledge, with over two decades of experience in financial markets throughout the world. He joined Merrill Lynch as executive vice president and head of global sales and trading in 2008, prior to the company’s merger with Bank of America.

Before that, Tom was with Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., where he was co-head of the global securities business and a member of the company’s management committee and Equities/FICC Executive Committee. During his 22 years with Goldman Sachs, he held a number of key executive roles. He was co-president of the firm’s Japanese operations and co-head of Asian FICC and Equities before becoming co-head of the global securities business. Earlier in his career, Tom ran the firm’s global derivatives business. He was named a partner at Goldman Sachs in 1994 and managing director in 1996.
